I would like to ask about using your Atios Smartcore in my new home.
I am about to start building my new house and I am thinking about smart lighting. My goal is to achieve comfortable lighting throughout the day. I was looking at DALI drivers and lights that support the DT8 protocol for changing the white tone depending on the time of day. The main unit is supposed to be Home Assistant with the plugin “Adaptive Lighting”.
During my research, I made several tries with ZigBee controllers, which ended up unsuccessfully due to an unstable connection and low system reliability.
My question is: Is Atios the right buddy for me? Am I able to wire some buttons and some DALI DT8 drivers to Atios Smartcore and let Home Assistant control the color temperature of white light during the day automatically? Or can Atios act as a standalone DALI-2 DT8 driver?
100% correct, Atios SmartCore is the reliable fit for your purpose. You can achieve “Adaptive Lighting” in two ways:
Use Home Assistant with an Adaptive Lighting Plugin
Use our Webinterface Plugin, which will be released by end of this year, to control Adaptive Lighting. This will be two simple curves which can be adapted over time with brightness and color temperature and which lights to include.
Option 2 works without HA out of the box. Super reliable, not dependent on the HA server instance, and if you sell your home it’s still working :)!
More suggestions for your home:
use the 12 built-in relays to control Blinds, Outlets, OnOff Lights, Motorized Door Locks, Garage Doors, Water Valves and other switchable Loads
use the 12 built-in inputs for conventional push buttons, 230V AC motion detectors, window and door contacts, or other binary sensors
use DALI-2 sensors to add up to 64x keypads with each 4 buttons, or analog sensor sensors for Brightness, Temperature etc.
