Want to see if anyone has tackled anything like this and if there is some cool HA solution already known
I have a attic (non climate controlled), Shelly temp up there to alert at high temp or humidity
I also have a craw space under the house (also non climate controlled), Shelly set to alert to low temp and/or high humidity.
The last owner of the house had some poor ventilation, Iām looking to add something like this with a screen and behind some exterior painted open louvers
My thought was it could go to a wifi switch, with an open or shut command (on/off) based on inside temp and humidity compared to the internet outside weather temp/humidity.
You could add sensors and have the esp32 control these action directly independent of HA. You could still add and control from HA but it becomes more self sufficient. Additionally you could actually add a temp probe outside and make it fully local
Is far as the levered shutters go. You could use the same vent cover used for dryers or to vent(ha ha) attic fans. There are 6ā and 8ā high volume fans you can connect it to vent out air
For the crawl space consider a dehumidifier. You want that space dry. Find one that "resumes after a power outage", hook it up to a suitable appliance smart switch and use the generic thermostat integration.
For the vent fan, do you want one speed, several speeds? That'll drive the decision for controls.
Remember these are both motors that can draw alot of current at startup, so you want a relay rated for motor loads.
Sure that will work, consider using the generic thermostat.
With it you get UI and good control. For example, if the temperature sensor fails (stops reporting) it'll turn the fan off - which is better than just running forever.
I've had good luck with Shelly WIFI plugs. Easy to integrate, well supported and so far have been solid for me.
