I connected a new August Wi-Fi Smart Lock (4th Generation) to Home Assistant today. It is working fine, but it thinks the batter level is -100%. Has anyone ever seen this before?
I’m also experiencing the same issue with the new August Wi-Fi Smart Lock. The older August Pro (3rd gen) + Connect doesn’t have this issue. Still waiting for a fix too.
@d3rw1n Is your lock relatively new? Mine was a warranty replacement for one that I bought about 6 months ago. The older one did not report -100%, so I am wondering if it is a new “feature” with the more recently produced locks.
@_Mike That could be the case, I bought mine around 2 months ago. It hasn’t been as reliable as my old August Pro + Connect. It’s been disconnecting from Wi-Fi frequently and the original batteries had gone completely flat in less than 2 months. I’m sure it’s due to the spotty connection. I’m thinking of adding a Connect bridge to improve the battery life.
I seem to be having the same issue. I’ve had an August wifi lock since July on my front door and it reports the battery just fine in positive numbers, but today I bought a brand new one for another door and this one is reporting -100 as well. Seems like a background change in a latest revision to the current gen wi-fi lock. Any suggestions on the best way to clean this up on our side until the plugin is (hopefully) updated? I assume there is some way to programmatically convert the reported numbers under the hood but not sure how.
Interestingly, mine did that for the first few weeks and then magically started displaying a positive battery level. It has been fine ever since.
Good to know. I’ll let mine sit for a while and see what happens!
