the August site does not send the code to verify the log in. Tried numerous times but I get no text message with the code for verification. Now my august locks don’t work in Home assistant
Just updated HACore 9-3-25, followed instructions for August lock compatibility changes and when reconfiguring as per repair info, external website (august) log in verification (send code), August does not send code to SMS (text messages) on mobile device. Tried numerous times to get code and nothing happens. Now August lock integration in HA does not work (entities all greyed out). Had to restore HA backup done automatically before HACore update to return my HA system to the way it was before the update so I could continue to use my August locks as I did before. The steps to accommodate this breaking change are not working in order to continue using AUGUST lock integration.
Hey @goatluigi, I’m just another HA user with an August lock. I haven’t updated from HA Core 2025.8.3 yet, so I haven’t ran into your issue, but this may become my problem as well!
I noticed that August pushed a firmware update a few days ago (very rare these days). The old August lock firmware was 1.1.23. I haven’t accepted the most recent August firmware, but I’ve heard of August locks updating without user input before. Do you know which firmware your lock is on?
I’m assuming these were the instructions you followed, but just confirming.
I’m also curious if you have wifi enabled on your lock, or you’re just using bluetooth only.
If all else fails you can open a “New issue” on GitHub for the August integration, and let the dev know what’s happening with as much detail as possible. Most of the time the devs volunteering time to HA only have their own setups to test with.
Hello @hauserjoe , I checked both my locks and one has firmware 1.1.23 and the other has firmware 1.1.28 and both wifi and bluetooth are enabled since I also use two of the keypads with firmware 2.27.0 Yes, I followed the instructions (in home assistant clicked on the reconfigure button which was presented which then took me to an external website (August log-in page) which had a Verify button to receive a code via text to your mobile phone to then use that code (below your August username and password to allow you to sign in which is probably where you would receive the new API key to continue using your locks in HA. Note* I have two of the round circular hockey puck style locks, pro-version I believe which are the latest as I purchased them in the past few months to replace my older ones which stopped working. Never did receive any code to verify log-in and I tried it numerous times after that and gave up. In HA the locks were greyed out, no access, so I restored HA core only and they finally were available again. I will not update HA to the latest release 9-3-25 until this is rectified. I need to use my locks using HA, so much easier than using the August app which sometimes is a bit slow to respond and or flaky at times. First time ever, HA core update messes up my setup since I started using it in MAY 2024. I use the August integration, not the Yale one that pops up since it would never work. I have had August locks since they first came on the market and they have performed reliably for quite a long time.
I’m facing the same problem. One of the solution offer on Github is to log in using Apple ID which I did. Manage to get the August lock in Apple Homekit. Then when I tried to add back the August Integration, I only able to add the integration but no entities available. The title indicate as Home Assistant Cloud. Is it because I do not have Home Assistant Cloud?
Resolved after calling August support for verification code.
resolved by removing blocking of unknown or non-contact numbers on my mobile phone so that the mobile app verified me as official user and it then gave me the verification code so that I could update the August integration on my network PC, mind you I was trying to do it on my PC in home assistant and not my mobile phone. I never tried to update it via my mobile. My PC is a raspberry pi 5 running only home assistant OS for my home automations only. I have an other full size desktop running Windows 10 for all other computer related stuff. I have another Pi 5 running my NAS, a pi3 running PiHole, and a pi 4 recently acquired to run as a Linux desktop when Win 10 goes unsupported on my Win 10 desktop which I will then use a Linux OS on that machine.
Just checking to see if you ended up going through with the HA Core update and August is working well for you? I am also on 8.3 at the moment as I updated HA Core to 11.1 and the issues people are speaking of here started occuring for me also (not able to get verification code etc.). I ended up downgrading to get my setup working again and that is where I am at, at the moment. Thank you for your response ahead of time!!!
