AUS** What's everyone using as smart plugs? Zigbee MESH

What smart plugs is everyone using in AUS?

I’m looking for a Zigbee router/repeater and figured smart plugs might be a good option since they often help extend the Zigbee mesh.

Are IKEA smart plugs any good for this purpose? They seem to be popular for creating a reliable Zigbee network.

Thought I’d check in and see what others are recommending or using.

I got 220m2 house with 3 Philips Hue plugs as repeaters and practically I haven´t had any issues in years with my zigbee network that has over 30 devices. They have pretty good coverage so 3 repeaters might be a little bit overkill and I would probably do just fine with 2 or just 1 repeater but I got 3-pack for a good price from sale

I’m using a mix of the OZSmartthings V2 plugs and the generic ones that list as the same model number TS011F but have a smaller form factor, they have been working fine for me for well over a year now.

I made a reply in the certified post a while back stating that they should not be used after I bought them since they are not certified but I am modifying that caveat to just be aware of risks should you look at generic ones when the form factor of others is too large for the sockets you want to use them with if not going the relay path or smart power socket path instead.

Aqara Smartplug. You can read power usage also. (Hue plugs do not)
Good build quality. I connected them with Conbee 2 stick. (You can use the HA stick too)

Aqara do make good products. Unfortunately they don’t have these smart plugs for AU.

I have been using a couple of IKEA TRETAKT smart plugs with a Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 Dongle Plus-P with Zigbee2MQTT and they are working well and do extend the Zigbee mesh. Only issue with them is that they don’t support power monitoring.
I much prefer the TRETAKT version over their previous Tradfri smart plug as it now has a button on it so you can manually activate the power switch if required.
