Edit 2: They advertise as fitting two side by side (which is great) but the button is on the side lol. Fail.
Looks the same as other brands, right down to the "feature" of having the button on the side where you cannot get it. Unfortunately it takes several units lasting over 24 months to know if they will actually last longer ... and by then they have changed to a new model ![]()
I suspect it is the compactness which is the biggest problem - Heat builds up without ventilation, especially when side-by-side. I have considered making a custom power board for my laundry where I currently have 3 smart plugs spaced out in a 6-way power board - but I'm very cautious about 240V.
I note that we can buy 6-way power boards without individual switches, or with 6 individual switches ... but usually I have some devices I want permanently powered (so don't need a switch) AND some which I do want individual switches for. Am I the only one who thinks a 6-way power board with only 3 individual switches would be a better idea ?
For all the (many) models I have tested it is only the wifi units that do this. And they all fail after a year or so.
Zigbee models run significantly cooler and so far mine aren't yet e-waste after 4 years.
My Useelink Matter over Wifi boards are still working as normal so far (ordered them 16 sept 2024 so almost 2 years now of usage), will update how long they last, though they still don't have power monitoring through their ports, maybe newer spec versions do.
Do you know if / reckon Matter over wifi would fall into this camp?

Power supply design plays an enormous part in longevity, and this is one area where quality components and substitution can be unknown variables, depending on supply chaIn issues, even with reputable manufacturers.
As SOC designs (chips) mature and power consumption and cost reduces with each generation, the load on the power supply lessens, and heat buildup becomes less of an issue. For devices that have been manufactured through multiple generations of a chip, this can improve reliability considerability, without any circuit redesign on the part of the manufacturer. Often the chip vendor will release a new chip that has the combined functionality of two out in the field, and a simple circuit board redesign will enable the same product casing/packaging and firmware to remain out there, transparent to the end user, but more profitable for the manufacturer, and less load on the power supply.
Capacitors called to function at the upper limits of their ratings can be short lived and generate excessive heat. This is often encountered when a suitably de-rated value is substituted by a lower voltage device, or lower temperature rating, like 85°C instead of 105°C. In a winter setting or a cold climate it will be fine, but in the hot afternoon sun streaming through a glass window, they just dry up and go faulty.
I don't think you can narrow down reliability forecasts to different forms of transmission technology as a class, just instead basing it on good design, responsible and consistent manufacturing reputation, and how you are deploying the device out in the field. Expect a shorter life if working it hard, or switching heavy loads frequently.
Ikea have dropped Zigbee for Matter, the Inspelning replacement is the Grillplats.
Some of the new range can be changed from Matter to Zigbee but not the plugs.
Has anyone used any zigbee in-ceiling mm-wave sensors in their setups? Wouldn't mind getting a few through out the house. I'm sick of changing batteries
I am getting new awnings fitted and have been offered a choice of Acmeda or Somfy motors.
The Acmeda stuff uses a Pulse Pro hub which is Matter and the Somfy has a Tahoma hub which looks like it is supported via Overkiz.
Does anyone have any experience with either of these ??

If so, they are both remote controlled solutions and I'm unaware of whether they can be integrated with Home Assistant.
For my awnings, they fitted Somfy motors but hardwired to a toggle switch with a Clipsal Wiser Blind Controller behind the switch. Wiser integrates as a Zigbee device and works perfectly.
I have Somfy blinds and Tahoma RF hub. Hub integrates locally with HA via overkitz. Doesnât miss a beat.
For me I use esp Somfy - a awesomee solution in that I can also do 42% open. Has been rock solid.
We installed Somfy blinds last year and use GitHub - rstrouse/ESPSomfy-RTS: A controller for Somfy RTS shades and blinds ¡ GitHub which is a fantastic HA-compatible controller.
Note that newer Somfy blinds use a non-RTS protocol which the above project is not compatible with. Check exact blind motor models with the installer. The two installers I spoke to were both surprised by my need for details but easily able to provide a variety of motorisation options to let me research what would be most HA-compatible.
