Has anyone in Australia been able to integrate GE Imagine smart lighting on to Home Assistant?
GE Imagine is an exclusive collaboration between GE and Google and works only through the Google Home app.
Has anyone been able to connect it to Home Assistant to avoid the pathetic delays between lights and also enable more light controls?
Unfortunately no. I have emailed the GE imagine team multiple times - they don’t have HA support nor they plan to introduce one. Atm google Home can’t do scenes and random effects making GE Imagine products dumb. I feel like even a basic Tuya devices can do a better job than this.
I got too excited and put GE Imagine downlights in most of my house and now I’m stuck with them
I got them working through Home Assistant and indeed HomeKit. Deleted the lights from the google assistant and use Tuya Smart or Lucci Connect app to set them up (you will need the Lucci Connect Gateway). Adding it through the Lucci Connect app will expose those lights to SmartLife integration and voila!
I just made the mistake of buying $360 worth of Lucci Festoon lights for under our pergola, no where on the packaging did it say we needed an extra gateway for another $80. I have just ordered a $13 Tuya gateway to try and hopefully get it all in to HA via Tuya Local. Thanks for the info!
Good luck and let me know if you happen to integrate it!
I paid for the Lucci gateway (super dumb and costs a lot for a simple Bluetooth gateway). I couldn’t get the Lucci products to work with HA nor HomeKit through the Tuya or smartlife integration as it’s locked by the Lucci developers.
It was over a month and Beacon Lighting wouldn’t take it back even when I had the box. $150 “smart” festoon lights working off a $20 smart plug to turn it on and off. I set and forgot the brightness and colour. These Lucci products are so dumb and barely usable.
Lucci markets heavily but their smart lighting is underwhelming.
Yeah, frustrating. If I can’t get them to work via the Tuya gateway, I will be taking them back to Beacon for sure! I have the lights themselves in the Tuya app and can control everything but only when my phone is close enough for the bluetooth so it looks promising for the gateway as well. I will be sure to update this post when I get the gateway.
Keep me posted. It’s a Bluetooth gateway so the range was very limited and super slow when I used the Tuya app to control the lights. Ultimately gave up and put a smart plug to automate it.
