Automate targets, groups etc

Hi!

Still starting my HA journey!. Loving it so far. But one thing that really grinds my gears is the lack of automation in administrations. Maybe someone can help me out.

What do i mean:

  • I want an automation that checks every device in the shelly integration if they have an update present. Why do i need to make a group or a filter and trigger on that? Why does HA nog support something like Dynamic groups (add all devices when integration name is ‘Shelly’)

I know myself, now i am in the building fase and i know where to add devices to. But i know i forget this in a few weeks time, let alone a few years. I don’t want the situation that when i add something in a few years time i have to add the device to 100 groups, filters, automations, scripts helpers etc. to let things work like i want them to.

Also i want an automation that notifies me when a battery powered device is low on battery. And no i don’t want to make a group and manually add every device to it and no i don’t want an automation for every other device that runs on battery.

These are some of the ideas i am struggling with. As i have already experienced in the few months using HA, it can get very messy and complex in a matter of minutes, and i want to keep things organized, simple and as fool proof as can be.

Anyone ideas?
