We need to control when the updates are applied because there are almost always breaking changes,.

There are hundreds of community developed integrations in use. notice many broke with the latest release because the users and developers ignored the deprecation warning that the integration needed to he updated before it was blocked.
For those using

Home Assistant Supervised, updating is just 2 clicks. 1 to update & 1 to permit it to automatically create a snapshot before updating. The advanced
Home Assistant Container or
Home Assistant Core users are expected to be able to handle updates themselves.
