Automatic local Integration of XEM470 - the Hager flow Energy Management System

Hello everyone,

I would like to introduce my new custom integration: Hager flow.

If you are using the Hager flow system, you know that the heart of the setup is the Hager XEM470 Energy Manager. Until now, it was quite complicated to fetch its data locally and in real-time into Home Assistant without relying on cloud detours. This integration solves that by polling the XEM470 directly within your local network.

:rocket: Features

The integration connects directly via the IP address of your Hager XEM470. The only minimum requirement is the energy manager itself. Depending on which components are connected to your XEM470, the corresponding entities are automatically discovered and created in Home Assistant:

  • :high_voltage: Base Features (XEM470): Real-time power data including current PV generation, grid export/import, total house consumption, and more…
  • :battery: Optional Battery Storage: Monitor your battery state of charge (SoC) as well as current charging and discharging power.
  • :automobile: Optional Wallbox (witty solar and plus): Integration of your EV charging station to track vehicle connection status and current charging power.
  • :laptop: Easy Setup: Full Config Flow support – setup is done entirely via the user interface, no YAML configuration required.

:hammer_and_wrench: Installation

Option 1: Via HACS (Recommended)

  1. Open HACS in your Home Assistant instance.
  2. Click the three dots in the top right corner and select Custom repositories.
  3. Paste the GitHub URL: https://github.com
  4. Select Integration as the category.
  5. Click Add and install the “Hager flow” integration.
  6. Restart Home Assistant.

Option 2: Manual Installation

  1. Download the repository as a ZIP file.
  2. Copy the custom_components/hager_flow folder into your config/custom_components/ directory.
  3. Restart Home Assistant.

:gear: Configuration

After restarting, configuring the integration is straightforward:

  1. Go to Settings → Devices & Services → Add Integration.
  2. Search for Hager flow.
  3. Enter the local IP address of your Hager XEM470 – and you are good to go!

You can find the source code, documentation, and the issue tracker directly on GitHub:

Since this project is brand new, I would love to get some feedback from the community – regardless of whether you use “just” the XEM470 for PV monitoring or the full setup with a battery and wallbox. If you like the integration, feel free to leave a star (:star:) on the repository.

Enjoy tracking your Hager flow system locally!
