Hi
Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

For the last couple of days I’ve noticed when creating a new automation, when i click save it brings up the rename dialogue but the “update” button is greyed out unless i add a category or a label.
Also im getting that old chestnut error again, not had it for a while.

Your new automation was saved, but waiting for it to set up has timed out. This could be due to errors parsing your configuration.yaml, please check the configuration in the Tools panel. Your automation will not be visible until this is corrected and automations are reloaded. Changes to area, category, or labels were not saved and must be reapplied. You may continue to wait for a response from the server, in case it is just taking an unusually long time to process this automation.

any ideas?
TIA

I had the same issue using the HA app on the phone

I tried a desktop web browser and the exact same actions could be saved OK

Are you giving it a name (alias) in yaml mode before saving? There’s currently a frontend bug with the rename dialog because it doesn’t recognise there’s already a name in the name field if you do that.
Not sure where I saw it reported, but it was probably in the 2026.7 release thread.

Yes I have been giving it an alias, I’ll try without and see if that cures it.
Thanks

Had a look in GitHub. Looks like it was fixed in 2026.7.2 which was released yesterday. All you need to do is update HA.
