Awetec Z-Stick 7 network wide inclusion?

Hey all. New to the forum and new to using Home Assistant with Z-Wave.

I am moving from a Fibaro HC2 that used to be able to carry out network wide inclusions. This was handy as I had no issues including to my devices in my detached garage.

Now I am using an Aeotec Z-Stick 7, but with the Z-Stick 7, I cannot include anything at all in the garage location that is about 8 meters away from the Z-Stick on the other side of the house separated by 1 stud wall and one external wall.

I thought this must be a range issue with the ‘small’ sized stick so I included some wall plugs in the room in the house just next to the garage and then tried including a device in the garage and still nothing.

With a plug that had been included in the house, I move this to the garage and could use it AOK. Triple clicking the button wakes it up and even managed to perform a rebuild routes. I then tried again to include another wall plug right next to it and a Fibaro relay and still it would not get picked up.

I cannot find any options for network wide inclusion for the Z-Stick and wondered if anyone could help me figure out what is going on.

I total so far, I have included 66 devices with about 3/4 of them being powered devices so meshing should be good and I should not have a range issue. I have performed a full network rebuild routes with no change and now stuck at what to do.

Can anyone advise if I am missing a network wide inclusion option or how I can get round this issue?

Thanks,

Hal

Both NWI and high-power mode are always enabled during inclusion.
Your devices also need to support it.

If you are in the EU region, the Z-Stick 7 has poor RF performance. An 800-series controller, or even the older Z-Stick 5 are better options.

You can also check some of the troubleshooting steps, make sure you are using a USB extension cable. https://zwave-js.github.io/node-zwave-js/#/troubleshooting/first-steps

Thanks very much for the reply.

I do have the Z-Stick on a USB extension lead now and still massive issues with rage only on inclusions. If i was to include near the controller and then take the device out to the garage where it will live, it works. I have done this for the 4 wall plugs on each wall of the garage hope this will create a kind of z-wave faraday cage and told each one to do do routes and still devices are having issues including.

I have a 5 meter usb repeated cable (fancy long usb extension) and have placed this closer to the garage and still it is hit or miss if devices will include.

I do have a z-stick 5 but when trying to use this on my VM, it get picked up by un-raid and passes it through to Home Assistant but HA will not allow for it to be used as it cannot find a port for it. Hence the reason I bought the Z-Stick 7 that just gets picked up right away.

I have seen the part about creating manual routes what you posted but I cannot find out how to do this.

If you have anything more I could try, I am open to suggestions.

Thanks,

Hal
