I always found HA backups quite weird… and unfortunately had to deal with recently because my server broke down.
It’s just a nightmare !!!
I had 127 backup files on my NAS (automatic backups mainly), all with a random name. It is impossible to know if the backup is partial or full, which HA version is supported. That caused many restore fails and I had to manually open the JSON file to check which one was the most recent full backup. Took me a very long time…
I suggest automatic backup naming such as date and time (yyyy_MM_dd_hhmm), backup type (full or partial) and HA version : eg 2025_04_08_1835-full-v15 which would allow to quickly identify which one we can restore and which HA version we have to use for restoration.
