I am currently receiving a notification that disk space is running low. This is a HAOS install. I never had disk space issues before. My recorder database size is only 64MB. Following other steps in the help article about disk space, I noticed that my automatic backups suddenly increased in size from about 150MB to 590MB each day, starting 2 days ago.
How would I figure out what is causing this? I think I remember installing some updates a couple of days ago, including Whisper and Piper and a few others, but do not remember all of them. I have not installed any new addons or integrations in that timeframe.
The backup is a compressed archive, you could simply open one to see what is inside. But I would not be surprised if new languages were added, taking up space.
Thanks, I’ll check that out. I think I do have encryption enabled though, so will need to figure out how to open that with the key. HA is smart enough to ask me for the encryption key when I download the archive, nice!
I’m surprised that langues would be included in the backup in the first place, I would have assumed it would only include data that is not included in a fresh HA install, such as recorded data and configurations / customization.
Is there a way to remove languages I don’t need?
On second thought, it might be larger models but it could be anything. I’m just guessing. Addons are not included in a fresh install, the backup contains everything unless you exclude things. My backups are 4GB, excluding media.
I’m guessing this is the model: encoder.int8.onnx? It is a huge file in the backup, everything else is just config-type data.
I have whisper set to the auto model, but this only happened after the recent update, previously, the .onnx files were not included in previous backups. Almost seems like it might be a bug in the backup mechanism or the add-on.
Yeah, good point. I will do that. I also changed my backup to go only to my NAS now (before I was going to local system and NAS).
However, I am unable to delete these big backups I click the delete button and nothing happens.
Turns out being unable to delete backups is a known issue. Workaround is to use the “select multiple” to select one or many, and then delete, instead of using the delete button under the 3 dot menu.
