I have backups_stale (binary_sensor.backups_stale) added to my dashboard using the default UI, with ‘last_updated’ toggled on for display. I installed 2025.2 this evening, and turned on the new Google Drive backup integration. I then ran a an automatic backup to test it. That was 45 minutes ago. The next prior backup was 19 hours ago. However, the backup_stale UI widget is showing my last backup was “8 hours ago”. This was working fine in 2025.1.4.
From where exactly did you get that binary_sensor.backups_stale
sensor? I don’t believe that is a part of HASS itself, but belongs to the unofficial Google Drive Backup addon you probably were using previously. It would more than likely only apply to backups uploaded to Drive by that add-on.
I was using the unofficial Google Drive Backup add-on until yesterday, but uninstalled it when I moved to the official Google Drive backup support in 2025.2. I opened this ticket after that. I’m new to HA, and unsure how to check where that widget came from. Note that I can still add it now, even though the unofficial add-on is uninstalled.
I can add this by: Edit Dashboard → Add → Entity → (search for “stale”), select “Backups Stale (binary_sensor.backups_stale)” → Continue → Add To Dashboard, then Edit → Appearance → State Content → “last updated”…
My apologies if this is a non-issue due to that other package.
Update: That entity has “disappeared” from my system. I can no longer add it, and the existing UI badge says “Entity not found”. But I updated HA release ~16 hours ago, and it was still there (addable and working, though showing wrong data) ~4 hours ago. Are “cleanups” from uninstalling a package done on some schedule hours after the uninstall is completed? Or?
