Bed Sensor Pad Not Working Right

I picked up the Amazon bed pad and hooked it up to an Aqara Zigbee flood sensor on the terminals. Seemed to work ok outside of the bed by moderately pressing on it. However, when I put it under the mattress, it barely worked. My bed has a platform and not slats, which may or may not be the reason. I even put a book under it, but nothing. I’m not exactly light either. It only had two wires so it was not a wire selection issue either. Any other pads or advice? Don’t really want to undergo a complex ESP32 ESPHome projects - just hoping for a contact closure.

And what makes you expect that they are compatible for your approach?

Because I measured with a multi-meter and others have talked about it?

How were the multimeter results for bed pad and for leak sensor?

Hello gazoo,

Love that name, BTW…
Try top changer the pressure. I’d add some plywood between the mattress and the sensor so it pushes down on the whole thing. Try different combinations.

Yep I figured that would be my next step. I tried a small book but it might have to be a wood lengthwise slat.

Contact closure (open/closed). It worked great, just not with the bed. Probably because of the bed type. It doesn’t seem to be sensitive enough.

So the pad is only on/off output?

It appears to be that way. The electronics that came with it doesn’t have an adjustment either (I didn’t use it). There were only two wires. I only checked for continuity, but that’s all I’m interested in doing anyway. It works fine, just not in my bed setup. I’ve seen two posts and videos about this one (at least I think it was this one from Amazon)

I don’t know your devices, but probing the resistance would be my first choice. Of course if pad has just on/off output, there’s nothing to do electric manner…
