Hello to you guys out there who have been a great help to a retired gent in the UK, with constructing automations and dash boards.
I’ve had a smart home since I left the work place ( electrician/controls engineer) but needed it to be more reliable and local for the sake of my wife should I depart this world first.
Dec 2025 I decided to buy the Home Assistant Green, which made it so much easier as a starting point as I had no idea about YAML!, that lead to realising the IOT I had in my home was all tied to servers over seas which I didn’t want, there and then started replacing them all using matter enabled devices and a couple of zigbee motion sensors ditched the hello nest for a Reolink doorbell, heating controls are next on the list followed by new replacement matter RGBW drivers to get it all under our roof so to say.
One of the reasons for posting here is to thank the community for the snippets here and there that have made it a lot easier for me, so if you are reading this and thinking where to start with Home Assistant its cool and worth the effort.
