Hi,
Located in Austrlia
i have a 3 phase system with a 3 phase Fronius inverter which is setup in HA and working great.
I now want to track consumption. Am i best to get a Fronius smart meter or something else, and if its something else what do you people use. I stumbled across Sense which seems great and it can detected appliances etc so was wondering if there is something like that?
Fronius Smartmeter isn’t very expensive (~200€), is quite accurate with low overhead costs (direct measurement vs transformer) and works well.
Additionally to having data for HA you will also get that data in Solar.web and the Fronius App and you can use the inverters internal load management system.
If you have an application that can’t leverage Fronius’ SolarAPI, it is also reachable through Modbus (and the inverter works as RTU-to-TCP gateway).
I’d totally get the Fronius device (as I already did twice).
Downside is that you would need a professional electrician to install it, but imho that would be the case with any energy meter installed in the breaker cabinet.
Not sure what you mean by "detecting appliances " though.
As another option - have a look at the IOTAWATT - this will enable you to monitor upto 14 circuits and build your own dashboards etc or feed the data out to a number of prepackaged solutions.
It is basically allowing you to not only monitor the output of the Fronius but also individual circuits in the switchboard
