Can you clarify, bgmnt, does this mean the app is only needed for initial setup in Home Assistant via matter and then after that, the app is no longer needed?
I’m feeling like I might just have to opt for old dumb HEPA air purifiers and use a smart switch. But I’d sure like to have a little more control and more data available in HA.
I have been using my LEVOIT air purifier in the bedroom for about 8 months now it is whisper quiet on sleep mode like a gentle white noise that actually helps me fall asleep faster and my allergies have been way better with less dust and pet dander floating around.
The washable pre filter is a game changer for quick cleanups and it clears cooking smells or smoky air super fast on turbo totally worth it for the price though https://www.amazon.com/LEVOIT-Purifiers-Washable-Filters-Quality/dp/B0BGPF71Q6/?th=1
I am about to bite the bullet for a pruifier now and Philips is one of the top choices on my list. How has the stability been over the last year? And may I ask which models you have?
They have been reliable over the last 2 years, however, the AC1214 has some issues with my WiFi since I replaced it; it often disconnects and fails to reconnect.
I haven’t found the time yet to investigate, but the other 2 are working fine.
I figured it out, my new wifi access points; it was configured to offer WPA2 as well as WPA3.
After i took out WPA3, it instantaneously connected and it hasn’t lost connection ever since
I have an xiaomi air purifier pro. One needs neccessarily an xiaomi app and account in the cloud for integration with the HACS module. The normal integration fails for the 2FA part constantly. With the normal miio home app device management is kind of stupid and out of the box purifiying modes didnt work for me, as most of it purifies constantly. After the successful integration I made a nice automation that starts air purifiying after a certain ppm is reached and stops when its below again. At nights I do the same with a lowered fan speed for sleeping purposes. I like it very well, the chinese cloud part is a bad downside that one might or might not be willing to accept. I did some review screening before I did a purchase and decided for the xiaomi device as its tech specs are extraordinary good and filters come at a reasonable price. The out of the box HA integration needs an update to comply with 2FA better. I hope this helps.
I have a couple of Levoit units (Core 400s and 300s) that I will be flashing to the custom ESPHome software. The units themselves already have the hardware installed, so it is as simple as reflashing the chip with new software to gain local control and drop the whole cloud Vesync setup. This will remove all of the negatives that people have mentioned about using the built in Vesync integration with HA.
I like the units themselves. They seem to work well and definitely lessened the congestion headaches I was suffering from previously.
