Best installation method for Bosch and Growatt

Hi there!
I am new to HA. I did some test installations in order to get somewhat familiar with the HA world.
My Goals: I am running a PV system (Growatt, Shinex-Wifi and ShineLanBox) and some smart home devices from Bosch.
I am not very happy with the standard integrations for these in HA. So I planned to build up HA on a raspberry pi 4 with HACS (for better Bosch integration) and ip paket sniffing with Grott in order to catch the data from the Growatt ShineLanBox on their way to the Growatt server.
I learned so far that HA supervised mode is deprecated and therfore I have to use the HA OS for raspberry or the docker installation. Which installation mode do I have to choose, esp. for IP sniffing with Grott?

Yes, I know about other ways to catch the Growatt data, but I cannot change any hard- or software configuration of my PV system because of loss of guarantee.

Best regards
Manfred

Reading the growatt with modbus will not loose your waranty. That way you keep thkngs local and far more stable

Pls tell me more about ‘modbus’ - thx!

I looked up modbus integration with Growatt. As far as I understand I have to add a hardware device to my inverter.
I would prefer to place my Raspi as an ethernet sniffer between my data logger and my router. No hardware issues at all…

Till your cloud server changes/disappears, internet connection drops, SD card wears out on the RPi or whatever.

Just a RS232 or RS485 port and an esp8266 will make you totally independed of the cloud and no hardware issues at all. Total cost about $5,- and it runs here already 15 years unattended.
