Best Integration for Lutron Caséta - lutron or homekit_controller?

Apologies in advance if this is a strange question - I’m experienced in programming, but new to Home Assistant.

The condo I purchased had a number of Caséta devices (switches, dimmers, and some Pico remotes), and I’ve added a few more, and I also bought a Pro Hub so I could do some light automation - mostly simple things to save some energy and simulate a “lived-in” look when I’m not home. I might add a few more light-switch devices, but I don’t anticipate incorporating drapes or anything like that.

Two integrations automatically sense the presence of the hub and ask to be configured - the lutron caséta integration and the HomeKit Controller integration. I would like to choose one or the other, and I’m hoping someone has already been down this road and can guide me to the best choice.

Looking at how the integrations set themselves up, based on what the hub told them, I see one interesting difference which may (or may not!) be important:

–The HomeKit Controller integration sees only the “real” switches, not the Pico remotes. Thus in my case, it see 7 devices (6 switches plus the hub) and 6 entities (the 6 switches).

–The Lutron integration also sees any Pico remotes which have been assigned to (and are controlling) real switches, so in my case it sees 10 devices and 6 entities.

Any advice would be appreciated - thanks. Any wisdom on the distinction here between “devices” and “entities” (in the Home Assistant lexicon) would also be welcome!!! I’m searching for a clear definition of the various Home Assistant terms.

Thanks,

–Stu

did you arrive at a conclusion? I’m wondering the same thing, specifically which is more responsive and more reliable…

I use the Caseta integration. 100% reliable.
