What is the best/most reliable option for a pet feeder?
Aqara - C1 has Zigbee
Petlibro - seems like it connects via Tuya but only the older version of the feeders?
PetSafe - there’s an integration in HACS
Any others?

I’m on the lookout for a feeder too. After a week of investigation I think the Aqara pet feeder works best out of the box with HA.
The other ones require local tuya to operate if you don’t have a hub. And your success may vary. Not an out of the box experience I expect.
The Petsafe device don’t have a local API. No option for me.
If the Aqare feeder had an silo-empty sensor it would be my instant buy. For now I have this “project” on hold.
I ended up getting the aqara and it’s been flawless.
An empty food bin sensor would be nice.
It connects without issue and the only thing I can’t do without the aqara hub is update the firmware.
Not sure if there are any updates.
Mine is on version 9761
You could probably add a vibration sensor to detect when the food lands in the bowl.
No vibration would mean no food ![]()
old post but just to clarify you are using it / have set it up without the Aqara Hub? The doc. + amazon listing explicitly say it needs the hub but I would just use it with HA + Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 dongle. Is that also what you did?
are you referring to my comment?
if so, yes, I using it with my existing zigbee network and not using the Aqara hub.
I think the only thing I can’t do without the Aqara hub is to update the firmware but I haven’t read anything about a new version so it’s not required.
