Best solution for remot access

I’ve HA os installed in NAS that is in my home network. Which is the best security solution for remoter access without have the cloud subscription ?

Local vpn and connect to that. I run wireguard, but you can also use openvpn for instance.

ok, what do you think about cloudflare as VPN ?

Could work as well. I have no experience with that one.

Define ‘best’

A VPN is the safest, but it requires the vpn tunnel to be active all the time.
If you are satisfied with username/password, just open up a port on your router.

Maybe your router has a build in VPN solution?
Mine has OpenVPN

best from a security point of view. I’m not satisfied as port forwarding isnt safe.

Depends on what your forwarding…most VPN solutions also require an open port…

There are also differences between VPN and VPN.
F.e. if you don’t use a VPN solution with a certificate, but only username/password, it would be safer to just forward a HA port, because when your VPN username/password is compromised, you would grant access to your whole network, instead of just HA,

Currently HA has the following know vulnerabilities

ok, which is your advice for safer access outside home network ?

I just use a single port forward for HA.

I also use VPN, but only if i want to gain access to my network (but that has nothing to do with HA).

Just make sure password are strong.

You could use SSL, so the data will be encrypted.

But the only thing really ‘safe’ is not to use internet at all :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Check Cloudflared. https://youtu.be/XoTmO4mLibw

Secure tunnel, without port forwarding.
