I currently have a Denon avr-x2200w. It’s always been an issue staying on the network. Apparently not unusual for denon. Talking wired or wireless. That said, if you had to buy a new receiver that worked “the best” with HA what would that be? Note I’m trying to configure a Sofabaton x2 remote and got all the Denon http commands programmed in and the Denon keeps dropping off network so other than going back to IR thinking replace it. Also not another Denon.
I’ve had two Yamaha RX-V865 amps that have been excellent for six years using both the Yamaha MusicCast and Yamaha Network Receiver integrations.
Until recently.
One of them has become intermittent on the network (wifi and wired LAN) unless I leave one of the zones on. The wifi card (that the wired LAN port connects through too) costs about $300 to $400 AUD to replace. So for now I just leave zone 2 permanently on.
I have Denon AVR-S750h and Marantz SACD30n/Model 30 combo, both integrated via Denon Heos and in parallel via Roon. Both rock solid, especially Denon. It happened few times that Marantz got disconnected after power outage and I needed to intervene. No issue with Denon, always properly reconnecting itself. Both connected via ethernet.
Said that, perhaps there is some issue with your network? What is your switch port configuration for wired connection? Denon devices are notorious to connect only at 10/100Mb at half duplex, so if the switch is forcing different settings it might cause instability. It is best to leave port settings in auto negotiation mode and let Denon set it to liking. For wireless connection I can’t say, not using it at all.
I have been with Denon since…well… ages and never had issues that you mention, am on my 4th receiver. I do use Ethernet as I am streaming sizeable tracks but also tried this via spotify app (now on lossless level) and all fine.
If not already done so I would raise the issue with Denon, even if your guranatee has lapsed … and maybe change the firmware (downgrades may help)
No problems here with a Denon AVR-3600h.
Are you sure, remote control under stanby is enabled? That could be your problem.

Thanks for the replies. Mirek, I have all Unifi equipment with 10GB fiber between switches and 1GB Unifi switches for legacy devices like this. All in wall wiring is cat 6. I just went thru an exercise of going to an older firmware thru USB and letting the device get an updated firmware onlilne but not sure if it will stick or not.
I hope it works and with “best stereo receiver” there is just too much questions to cover. e.g. I am and have been happy with my Denon (now 3800h) for my setup but for streaming I use a WiiM Pro as transport and a separate DAC…still ‘reasonable’ in imo but others think I go overboard. All in all, Denon I can well control via non Denon sourced commands, so also HA and there are plenty of receivers that are less open. Marantz is on the same level fafaik
So do we feel the Denon can be controlled the best remotely without IR? Like thru http I can control:
Denon On
Denon Off
Denon volume up
Denon volume down
Denon mute
Denon mute off
Denon to Input Game
Denon to Input Media Player
Denon Mute Toggle
There are some other things but I don’t use those other sources. So can’t access the menu, or control navigating the menu. I would like to be able to control the whole device with custom commands on the Sofabaton remote either directly with http as I’m doing or HA but preferably direct.
With HA I can already do quite a bit more using the regular Denon integration but then…you do want even more … and then in the docs you will find how to do this (get_command). Menu on/off etc is also covered. Whether this covers the whole device I cannot tell but for sure a lot(!). The doc is already 10+y old and this still works on new Denon AVR
Not sure what you mean with ‘but preferably direct’
Marantz & Denon belong to the same company, at times using the same factories/production lines for their components.
For better or worse, I wouldn’t expect any difference in level between those 2 brands.
