Any ideas what’s the best approach to integrate an 868MHz Pool LED? It’s an Italian product with a very strange shitty remote. The usage is very awkward and it emits a quite weak signal as well.
I’d like to learn some of the signal (on, off, 2-3 colors - that’s it) and integrate them into HA.
I got an rtl_433 dvb-t receiver, 868MHz senders and stuff, but unsure about the best approach about learning/decoding the signal and then using it.
Are there some how-tos or is this too complicated?
Thanks!
Isn’t that for 433 MHz?
I doubt it will be too hard. It’s essentially the same as any other ESPHome IR remote.
I have not built one myself but the frequency should not matter, it’s all binary when it’s received anyways.
From the github page:
rtl_433 (despite the name) is a generic data receiver, mainly for the 433.92 MHz, 868 MHz (SRD), 315 MHz, 345 MHz, and 915 MHz ISM bands.
The official source code is in the GitHub - merbanan/rtl_433: Program to decode radio transmissions from devices on the ISM bands (and other frequencies) repository.
I’ll look into ESPhome or maybe Tasmota README, haven’t thought about that … Thanks
I misunderstood it then.
I see now that it’s not LED as in a LED/IR (-ish) remote but a LED(s) you want to control with 868 MHz RF signal.
Sorry about the confusion.
I have no idea if ESPHone can be used for this.
The redneck DIY method would be to enclose the remote in a waterproof box with an ESP that control the remote with the GPIOs.
My fault. Thanks, I changed the subject to avoid confusion.
Looking at Tasmota I found a fork that supports the CC1101 module which has a 868MHz module on it. That looks promising.
