Hello there,
I’ve a Vaillant smart boiler. The boiler is not smart but the wireless thermostat is.
As a result, the room where I put the wireless thermostat is crucial, it must be the coldest of the rooms that are always turned on and the thermostatic valve in that room must be set to the maximum (i.e.: 5, it is not temperature, it is from “anti frost” to 5).
This is nicely showing in HA
So far, so good. But what if I want to add smart valves everywhere else?
If one room is requesting heat but the thermostat doesn’t feel the need to turn on the water circulator, nothing will work.
What is the best approach for this? Any technical idea? Because valves are quite an investment and if I can’t configure what I want …
My first idea was to remove the smart thermostat but then the water circulator will run forever and the boiler as well if the returned water is colder than the requested boiler temperature (e.g.: 62°C) which is not advisable.
My second was to replace the thermostat by “something” from the valve’s brand that will collect the info from all the valves and decide to turn on the water circulator.
CAVEAT: The water circulator is part of the boiler, it is not OpenTherm but I can buy an official card to make it OpenTherm.
