I’m planning to migrate my Masonry based default dashboard with dozens of devices (and many more entities) to the new Sections layout this weekend.
Even though I would characterize myself as an experienced HA user, this task seems a little bit overwhelming right now.
Therefore, I’m eager to hear other user’s stories and recommendations how to go about the migration.
When I did it I created a new dashboard and started from scratch (and conversion wasn’t available at the time). This allows you to talke as long as you need. When I was happy with it, I did a copy-paste from the RawConfiguration Editor (I wanted the Overview dashboard to remain the default). I also copied the original elsewhere because in redoing it I decided to make changes.
However I found that in some cases links were pointing to the wrong dashboard and needed to be updated. I put a big banner on the page saying “old version” to highlight when this was happening because otherwise they looked the same.

that’s a very useful hint. I wasn’t aware, that you could move around the JSON config for dashboards that easily.
Now that I’m trying to wrap my head around the topic, it seems, that you could also convert the dashboard one view at a time.
For the view you need to click on the edit pencil of the view and then the three dots and edit in yaml.
