Looking to migrate Z-wave network to HA, have both a Z-net and USB stick. I installed JS UI & Zwave integration and got the Z-net moved over without issue. What’s the best way to get the USB stick network into the mix? Do I need to install JS alongside JS UI to control it, or is there a way to run a second instance? I read about the additional capabilities of UI, so does this mean I’d have to decide which network gets those extra things while the other doesn’t?
One controller one instance. You can do some stupid tricks but not advisable without a specific reason. You don’t give enough info to recommend one of those.
Does the USB stick have an active ZWave network on it right now? What kind of network more about the devices why separate etc.
You can install Z-wave JS UI on the Z-net and connect it to the USB Z-wave controller. The only downside is you have to maintain keeping the software up to date, but that’s pretty trivial with docker.
There are some posts both on this forum and the HomeSeer forum on how to install Z-wave-JS UI on the Z-net RPi.
You then would need to create a second instance of the Z-wave integration, which is supported by HA.
USB stick has an active network on it from (from Homeseer). There’s two networks because it’s spread across two buildings. Have the USB stick running in the main building on my Homeseer box, and the Znet running the remote building.
In that scenario I’d install Z-wave-JS UI on the Z-net as mentioned earlier, then move the HAT Z-wave device to it, reconfiguring your current integration to point to it.
Then reconfigure the installed add-on to use the USB controller.
You should be able to do this without impact to the Z-wave networks of either device.
