📈 Bitpanda – portfolio and live price tracking as a Home Assistant integration

Bitpanda for Home Assistant

Open your Home Assistant instance and open a repository inside the Home Assistant Community Store.

HACS: Custom Latest release License: MIT Home Assistant 2025.5+

Your Bitpanda portfolio and live prices of more than 14,000 assets on your Home Assistant dashboard — set up in the UI, no YAML.

:tada: Version 2.0.0 is out: a complete redesign. Coming from a date version (2026.06.04 or older)? The upgrade needs a new API key and cannot be undone — read the release notes before you update.

:sparkles: What you get

The integration offers two services. Set up either or both.

:bar_chart: Bitpanda Portfolio — with a read-only API key

  • Total value, Cash, Cash Plus and your return over a day, a week, a month, six months and a year
  • A wallet for every asset you hold — crypto, stocks, ETFs, ETCs, crypto indices and precious metals — in groups by asset type. Wallets come and go with your holdings: nothing to pick, nothing to add.
  • For each wallet: the available, staked and total balance, your average buy price, the amount invested and your profit/loss, the APR and your staking rewards
  • Notifications and events when a new wallet appears and when Bitpanda pays out a staking reward

:chart_increasing: Bitpanda Price Tracker — no API key needed

  • Live prices of more than 14,000 assets — crypto, stocks, ETFs, ETCs, Bitpanda Crypto Indices and tokenized precious metals
  • In EUR and, if you want, in 11 more currencies, converted with the ECB’s daily reference rates
  • The 24-hour change of every price
  • Added in a few clicks: choose the kind of asset, search, done

Plus: long-term statistics for every value, and the interface in English, German, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish and Polish.

:package: Installation

Method 1: Installation via HACS (Recommended)

Open your Home Assistant instance and open a repository inside the Home Assistant Community Store.

One-Click Install: Click the button above to add and open the repository directly inside Home Assistant!

Manual HACS Steps:

  1. In Home Assistant, open HACS.
  2. Click the three dots ⋮ in the top right corner and choose Custom repositories.
  3. Paste the repository URL:
    https://github.com/Spegeli/hacs_bitpanda

  4. Select Integration as the Type and click Add.
  5. Find Bitpanda in the list and click Download.
  6. Restart Home Assistant.

Method 2: Manual Installation

  1. Download the Source code (zip) of the latest release from the Releases page.
  2. Unpack the ZIP archive.
  3. Copy its custom_components/bitpanda folder into your Home Assistant directory under:
    /config/custom_components/bitpanda/

  4. Restart Home Assistant.

Then: open Settings → Devices & services → Add integration, search for Bitpanda and choose the service you want.

Requirements: Home Assistant 2025.5 or newer. For the Portfolio, an API key from app.bitpanda.com/my-account/apikey with Balances, Transaction and Earn (Read) — the integration only reads your account, it never trades. The Price Tracker needs no key.

:up_arrow: Coming from a date version (2026.06.04 or older)?

2.0.0 moves to Bitpanda’s new Public API and splits the integration into two services. In short: make a backup — the upgrade is one-way —, create a new API key, update through HACS and restart, enter the new key when Home Assistant asks for it, and check Settings → Repairs for the renamed entity IDs.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Upgrading from a date version, step by step

🤖 Automation example: a push message for each staking payout
alias: New Bitpanda staking reward
triggers:
  - trigger: event
    event_type: bitpanda_staking_reward_received
actions:
  - action: notify.mobile_app_your_phone
    data:
      title: Staking reward
      message: >-
        {{ trigger.event.data.wallet }} received {{ trigger.event.data.net }}
        {{ trigger.event.data.symbol }} from {{ trigger.event.data.count }}
        payout{{ 's' if trigger.event.data.count > 1 else '' }}.

Use your phone’s notify.mobile_app_… action. Four more examples — a price alert, a big move within 24 hours, a morning report and a new wallet — are in the README.

:balance_scale: Disclaimer

  • Not a Bitpanda product. This integration is an independent community project. Bitpanda does not develop, endorse or support it, and Bitpanda’s support cannot help with it — use the GitHub issue tracker instead.
  • Trademarks. Bitpanda, the Bitpanda logo and other product names are trademarks of their respective owners. They appear here only to name the service the integration connects to.
  • Figures for information only. The integration shows what Bitpanda’s public API returns; prices in other currencies are converted with ECB rates (see Known limitations). Figures can be delayed or differ from the Bitpanda app. Nothing here is financial advice.
  • Use at your own risk. The software is provided as is, without warranty, under the MIT License. It only reads your account and never trades — keep your API key private all the same.

:tada: Version 2.0.0 is out

Bitpanda for Home Assistant has been rebuilt from the ground up — the first post above shows everything new. In short:

  • Two services: Bitpanda Portfolio (read-only API key) and Bitpanda Price Tracker (no key needed)
  • Wallets come by themselves: one for every asset you hold — now also stocks, ETFs and ETCs
  • Position and staking details: average buy price, amount invested, profit/loss, APR and staking rewards
  • Notifications and events for new wallets and staking payouts
  • Seven languages for the whole interface

Coming from a date version (2026.06.04 or older)? Read the release notes first: the upgrade needs a new API key and cannot be undone.

:telescope: What’s next

Ideas I’m looking at — nothing is decided yet:

  • More notifications: Cash Plus interest, dividends and bonuses, announced the same way as staking rewards
  • Dashboard cards: one for the Portfolio — value, returns, allocation and your wallets — and one for the Price Tracker, a watchlist with small price charts. Research and mockups: #16

Mockups — not built yet, all values made up:

All ideas and open points are collected in #14.

:test_tube: 2.1.0-beta.1: the dashboard cards are here

In my last post the dashboard cards were mockups — now they are built, and the first beta of 2.1.0 is out for testing. They come with the integration, so there is nothing else to install.

  • Bitpanda Portfolio card: your total value with your return over 1 day to 1 year, and a line of the total value from Bitpanda’s own history. Below it Cash and Cash Plus, how your money is split across asset types, and your wallets — by asset type or in one list, with a search field if you want one. The arrow beside a wallet opens its details: available and staked units, staking APR, average buy price, invested amount, profit or loss and staking rewards. The eye blurs all amounts for a screenshot. Every part can be left out.
  • Bitpanda Price Tracker card: your tracked assets as a list or as tiles, with price, change and a small chart over 1 day to 1 year. With extra currencies set up, a switch shows the prices in them.

Both cards find their sensors by themselves, have a visual editor for every option and speak all seven languages of the integration.

Screenshots with a made-up demo portfolio.

Also in this beta:

  • Prices every 60 seconds, however many assets you track: Bitpanda changed its rate limits, so the Price Tracker no longer slows down above 30 assets
  • Earn offers every hour instead of once a day
  • bitpanda.refresh now also fetches the returns, so a morning report right after it shows the current one
  • A new attribute asset_category on every wallet and price sensor, for your own templates

:wrench: Trying the beta

  1. In HACS, switch on pre-releases for Bitpanda, or install it once: HACS → Bitpanda → ⋮ → Redownload → Need a different version? → v2.1.0-beta.1
  2. Restart Home Assistant
  3. Reload the browser page twice — the first reload can still come from the cache. In the Home Assistant app, closing it is not enough: open Settings → Companion app → Troubleshooting and select Reset frontend cache
  4. Edit a dashboard, choose Add card and search for Bitpanda

No new API key and nothing to reconfigure. Going back to 2.0.0 works the same way — remove the cards from your dashboards first.
