BLE proxy and pairing

Hi,

I have several ESP home devices and have enabled BLE proxy in some of the devices. I have a Husqvarna Automower with only bluetooth connection and would like to be able to control it from HA. I want to add enough ESP Home devices with BLE proxies to cover my whole garden, but I can’t even get the mower to connect to a proxy. I see the BLE Mac address int the integration of my HA, but I can’t get it connected.

Should this not be a use case where BLE proxies could be used, or am I mistaken?

BR Jens

The proxy themselves are only part of the solution they’re only antenna. What other software are you using. (sorry not 100% on what the automower needs to be supported in HA?) got instance I wanted location awareness so I then installed Bermuda to track devices. It USES the BLE proxy. The BLE proxy on its own doesn’t automatically do it…

What he said.

HA itself doesn’t pair like a mobile phone would. The Bluetooth and BLE integrations just provide the communications channel - you also need a specific integration for each device you want to control. There does seem to be one for Husqvarna:

Yes, I understand that the BLE proxy is only a channel of communication. But what I can’t understand is whether or not a bluetooth device such as my Husqvarna shouldn’t be able to communicate with HA through all of my BLE proxies when it moves around (outside) the house. I would believe that I only need to pair the mower to the integration and the all of the BLE proxies are just antennas. Is this correct?

Yes, this is exactly the integration I am using, but I can’t get the Husqvarna to pair to the BLE proxy. :frowning:

Maybe you could move your mower towards your HA server (or vice versa) to check if it works with regular Bluetooth (i.e., no proxy)?

Do you have your BT Proxies setup for active connections? Never used that integration, but I would assume it’s required.

I will try this  Thank You.

The proxy sees the bluetooth MAC address, so I guess that it should be close enough.
