Hi, I recently got a bObSweep robot vacuum and was wondering if anyone knew of a plugin/way to integrate it into HA. Would really like to be able to program it to just clean specific rooms/areas if at all possible. Thank you
Setup the Bobsweep with Tuya Home app on phone.
then use Tuya integration in Home Assistant.
My father just brought home the Bobsweep Dustin from BestBuy.
Even though i have been into robot vacs for years, I had never heard of this brand. I was scared I would not be able to use it with Home Assistant.
Currently mapping.
My main robot has always been called BitchVac
The new one is now installed on the bottom floor.
I guess this one is going to be BottomBitch
to what extent does it work in the tuya app? I was looking at using it in alexa or google home which it natively supports but all you can do are very simple commands like “alexa star the vacuum” or “ok google, charge the vacuum”
I’m looking for something more intuitive, their native app sucks and I’d like to be able to send it to specific rooms or get a notification when it gets stuck on something. Can you do that with tuya? and do you have to go through the whole tuya set-up nightmare in the developer website?
@RockFlagEagle
I never used the bobsweep app, so cant comment.
tuya app and my bobsweep Dustin, does room mapping in app. Can send to area in app. can have it vac the hallway once, kitchen 3 times, then living room twice. different suction power and water level in each area. It has features,
But the tuya app is made in China. there are oddities in the wording of things, typical chin-glish, it works. not sure if its better or worse, but allows home assistant integration. The only thing I really care about.
In home assistant with tuya app, you can start/stop change power ect. standard stuff. see screenshot below
however I there are ways to have home assistant send robot to specific room. just involves setting up Tuya developer account and some extra steps to find the room ID, then yaml the ID in the automation.
I had to do the same stuff with my Dreame Vac, to have it vac a room, then empty, vac another room, then empty… ect
I had to automate the self empty after each room as i have dogs.
This can be done too with some/if-not-all Tuya robot vacs.
Live maps can be done too with HACS addon and Tuya dev account.
you sir, are, infact, the man. I finally got it into HA after months of looking around. Are you using it on the local tuya integration? Basically I was able to get it into home assistant and its exposing all the entities but I can not connect to it (on the regular tuya integration). Thought I would have more luck on the local. Do you know where I can find the MAC address on this thing so I can gve it a static IP?
Have not tried local tuya yet. also seems like some of the more advanced control requires cloud API access.
MAC addy

Device Information
thank you sir! looks like my vac keeps dropping off the wifi. Are there any special accommodations you need to make for the vac?
I have not done anything special. I connected it to my dual band Wi-Fi. 2.4 and 5G in the same SSID network name.
I’m not even sure if the vacuum supports 5 ghz.
But my vacuum is on the same floor of my townhouse as my Wi-Fi access point. It spends its entire life within 20 ft of it with no walls
I do know a lot of these cheap Chinese devices usually only support 2.4 GHz and usually only like Wi-Fi channel 1, 6 and 11
ah ok I think I figured out my problem, I have to split bands to get a devices to connect to 2.4 ghz wifi and as soon as I disable that function the device drops off. I guess its an xfinity band steering issue. Happens with another tuya IR blaster I just got as well. Just going to get a cheap router dedicated solely to 2.4 ghz as theres a couple other devices I have this problem with. Less headaches down the road this way.
Still appreciate all the advice though, before I switched my wifi back to normal everything loaded right into the integration without having to go through the normal headache process of tuya, so once my new router arrives tomorrow I should be all set.
Just buy a cheap 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi access point for your iot devices. Make sure to log into the Wi-Fi access point and disable DHCP so it doesn’t hand out IP addresses and everything will be on a single Network
Actually before you spend money on that, login to your Xfinity access point and see if there is an iot Network that is currently disabled. Some newer modems from the isps do have an iot Wi-Fi network that is 2.4 gigahertz only but it is usually disabled by default
that’s exactly what I did, got a TP link access point for like $20, honestly not even really mad about it, if it works I’d rather just have this easy access to 2.4 than the current headache I have trying to do it. But yeah set static IP’s for everything so should be good to go on that front. I think I still need to map it for it to be fully integrated so we’ll have to see how that goes
