Bose soundtouch Velbus Oled

Hi all,

At home i have a velbus signum with home assistant and a couple of bose soundlinks. I wan’t to display the “now playing” info on the velbus oled buttons with the memo function. I can send text memo’s to the oled in home assistant but the info from “now playing” not. Can anyone help me with this?

Or what methods you’ve tried?

For everyone else’s benefit, I assume you’re trying to create something like this (this was achieved with openHAB, Velbus and Sonos, by DTN Electrical in Ireland a few years ago)

Hi Stuart,

With the automation function i can sent text to the OLED. But i think i need to program it in the yaml file. But i’m not that smart :slight_smile:
If i send text to the OLED, it stays also on the display. To delete the the text i must reboot the OLED.

I’ll admit here that I really don’t know what the correct method is to link the “Now Playing” information from your sound system into your Velbus glass panel display, but I’d like to think it isn’t too difficult.

If I had to guess, I’d assumed it required some kind of “on change” automation that grabs the text string and pushes it into the OLED display??

But how? That’s a mystery to me.

I haven’t wrapped my head around the home Assistant Automations yet.

Hopefully some kind soul will send you down the correct rabbit hole to find your answer.

Now that part, I can help you with.

Just send a null message to the OLED display, that will clear it.

this would be pretty easy to do:

Create an automation:

  • trigger: state of an entity
  • select the media_player you want to use
  • action: velbus.set_mnemo_text, with the module address and the ‘now playing’ info for the medi_player
