Hi! I’m trying to use the new broadcast feature in 2025.2. if I go to assist and type in: “broadcast hello”, it gives me the reply “done” in the assist dialog but not of my Google mini speakers broadcast anything. I’m not sure how to troubleshoot it, either. I can use developer tools–> actions, Google Assistant SDK send text command and it will broadcast. I’m trying to get the feature that was listed in the new 2025.2 update to work but no luck. What am I missing? Thanks
You don’t say what your voice assistant setup is.
I haven’t updated yet, but from the (very brief) mention in the release announcement, this seems to be a built-in intent that uses the Assist Satellite integration, so it’s probably only going to work with integrated voice clients like Voice PE, not with other speakers.
Like a lot of the voice stuff, it looks like a half-finished idea announced prematurely.
Thanks! I think what you said is probably accurate. It was a very brief mention in the update so it’s probably not what I was hoping for. FYI, I have all Google mini speakers throughout the house. I’m trying to be able to use “Hey Google” to talk to Google but also use assist in HA to control devices and broadcast messages to all speakers. In a way it’s kinda redundant but I figure that in case I break HA or don’t have it set up correctly, we can still rely on Google Assistant as a fallback. My wife will likely always use ‘hey Google’ but I will have the ability to use ‘hey nabu’ or just type it into the assist dialog in HA. My main use case will be to have a way to broadcast from my HA dashboard using assist and announcing through Google speakers. If that makes sense.
