Calendar entity not available

I was trying to import an .ics calendar for trash pickup and add it to my local calendar. First, i renamed the default from local.calendar.calendar and named my trash pickup to the default name. I then restarted HA but there were not calendars showing. I checked the state of the calendar and it showed off so I turned it on. The calendar now showed but nothing was on there. I assumed I had a bad .ics file so I renamed the original file name back and I have the same issue. It showed off, even after a reboot. When I turned it on, it shows as an available calendar but with no events. If I try to create an event, it says the entity is not available. When I check the entity it says “this entity is no longer being provided by the local_calendar integration. If the entity is no longer in use, delete it in settings”. At this point, I have the original calendar in the same place with the same name but it is not recognizied. What can I do to correct this?

Calendars are not turned off or on. Their state shows “on” if there’s an event currently in progress.

I’m guessing that you’ve found the underlying ics file that HA uses for its local calendar integration and are trying to replace it with your own content. Rather than doing that, I’d use the ics with an existing calendar integration, such as the ics_calendar HACS integration. Alternatively you can import an ics into Google Calendar and use that integration.

To fix what you’ve got I would delete the local calendar integration, since you’re not using it. You may need to restart HA for the entity to fully disappear (and it might take a few minutes after that).

Thanks. I’ll try the HACS tool.

Hi all,

I have a similar issue. On the overview there is a calendar cart that shows the text "Entity not available: calendar.afvalbeheer…
This is correct since I have deleted the entity because a new one (with _2 addedd) was created. That second calendar is not shown automatically on the Overview page (but it does work). Hoe can I remove the Calendar card with the error on it and how do I correct this error. I cannot find any reference to named calendar anymore.

Well, it resolved itself. After a few days (and a number of restarts) the calendar is gone. Thanks for reading.
