Hello. I am interested in purchasing some cameras for my home. I do want them to have motion detection.
I have googled it and I get back all sorts of posts and it seems like a gazillion different brands. I would see some for a brand them some against a brand.
So I thought I would try here. Any recommendations? I have the HA green and ordered the zbt-2 thing.
Agree with the above. Look at it like a system, not just a camera.
What are your requirements? Typically, you want multiple cameras, since you’ll always find more things you want to monitor, once you’ve started. You probably want some sort of detection, be it people, animals or vehicles. I’d want some sort of “smart” detection; simply recording motion causes false positives from insects, raindrops, spider webs or even dust motes.
To me, this justifies a dedicated system with it’s own dedicated NVR hardware. Another requirement for me is local control, with no or limited cloud dependencies. And of course, I lean toward open source. Integration with HA would be nice, but not a requirement. No need to build in dependencies between these separate functions. If I want to look at my cameras, it’s no harder to open the NVR page/app than the HA page/app.
I’m using three Reolink cameras that have motion detection enabled. No NVR, just the cameras that are uploading files to my home assistant server, where i can check the uploaded files later. I also get notifications for motion or person detections.
Thx for the reply. It is for my home so not needed to be Enterprise level. In all honesty I think because i am a tech type person I like how it works to see what it could do.
One or more of each of the following:
RLC-810A - This one can be turned 90 degrees and be put in corridor mode for my front door.
RLC-811A - This one has zoom to see the deer feeder better
RLC-823A - PTZs for the corners of the house. Still need to put two on the front.
Reolink Duo 2 PoE - Dual cameras merged into one on the camera.
This is a custom:webrtc-camera card in HA fed from Blue Iris and can be viewed from external access as well.
