Does such a thing exist, and well integrated into HA?
Let me explain.
I have a Video Doorbell (Swann) and it is rubbish. It’s battery powered and dies weekly, wifi, too slow to start recording or notify me, and does not integrate with anything.
I’m contemplating replacing this with a Reolink PoE Doorbell as it seems to have good HA integration and solves to issue of powering it, although running the cable through my stonework is going to be a challenge and placing it where it’s obvious for visitors does not give me the coverage of my front garden I would prefer.
Alternatively, I could just get a PoE camera and mount it above my doorway where I already have floodlights and could easily pull a cable; but then I’m dependant on motion alerts and would still want a doorbell for visitors to announce their presence.
Or, I could get both, but do I really need 2 cameras and 2 network connections at my front door?
It seems to me that what I REALLY WANT is a camera that can have a doorbell button connected to it to share it’s network feed and power, just discretely running a thin bell-wire from camera to button. I can’t believe I’m the only person that would prefer such a setup.
Hi,
I’ve fitted two Unifi Doorbell Lite cameras - these aren’t that expensive, integrate for video and sensors with HA, and pair with PoE or mains chime units.
Multiple doorbells can be paired, each with their own chime (which can also be triggered from HA).
The only downside is the the cameras use PoE which works better than WLAN and powers a light, but does nees new cable.
(Currently traveling so can’t easily add links.)
