Can I create a helper to reference a specific device?

I use automation alerts to let me know when batteries in devices are running low. These alerts show on my phone. When I change my phone I need to go in and change the target device in all of the alert automations individually. This is a pain!

Is it possible to create a helper that references my phone so that all my alert automations can simply target the helper rather than my phone directly? If I could do this then when I change my phone, a single update to the target device in the helper would automatically allow my alerts to show on my new phone.

All help/ideas appreciated from you wonderful people😀

You can create a notify group with only your phone in it. When you change phones, just change the member of the group.

Do note that some additional data fields which can be used in notifications don’t work when the notify action provided by the companion app isn’t used. For example actionable buttons and clear_notifcation command won’t work.

Thanks for this @TheFes . I set up a notify group but.it wouldn’t allow me to add any members/ entities. Am I missing something.

Did you click on the provided link?
You need to do this in YAML.
The GUI created notify groups are for notify entities, which you probably don’t have.
