My best guess is I’d write something to send each HA file to VirusTotal and that would scan the file for me. But I could be completely wrong about that.
I think tmjpugh’s later suggestion of a reinstall is more within my limited capabilities.
But thanks again, I appreciate you taking the time to reply to me.
AVG reported “Script:SNH-gen [Trj]” and was able to remove the infected files.
The router had been reliable for months, but a few hours after the infection it started disconnecting, restarting etc. every few minutes. This went on for several days until the router was reset to factory defaults. It’s been a lot better since, but still disconnects from time to time. My ISP says my line is good, and the problem is something in the router or on my home network. I’m still hoping my ISP will send me a replacement router.
I’ve scanned all of my devices that I can, updated firmware on my sensors etc. Which just leaves HA to either scan or reinstall.
So if there is no way to scan an HA system then I will go with the suggestion of a clean install.
I hope that clarifies, but please let me know if you think I am missing something. Otherwise, thanks for taking the time to give me some feedback and advice.
P.S. I haven’t ruled out the possibility that I’m being paranoid - the timing might be a big coincidence - but paranoia doesn’t meant they are not after you
ROUTER
I dont believe many exploits survive reboots of router. If you have concern you can look up your device and if there are reports of known vulnerabilities maybe consider long term move to a safer device. Otherwise you may be OK
HA SERVER
A reinstall would be safest/best if you have real concern. That can be a huge lift.
