Cannot access link for home assistant hosted on server

Hello all,

For context, I am trying to run home assistant on an old laptop with Ubuntu server installed. This server does not have an Ethernet port and I cannot access a GUI from within the machine. I am able to SSH into the server and the firewall is set up to allow the default port.

Is there any common network issues that I am missing that could make it where I cannot access the HTTP link from a desktop (separate device)? Do I need to get SSL certification to run the link for my desktop to access it?

I am also wondering if I just need to buy an Ethernet adapter for the server to make it run (in the form a USB to Ethernet adapter so the machine can use the Ethernet port)?

Which installation method did you choose?

Wifi is not recommended for server connections but as long as you do not have client isolation enabled for your wifi network you should still be able to contact it.
