Cannot add name to entity in dashboard

I am trying to change the name of the Lindkind Garage Bulb No 1 in the following screenshot on my iPad, but tapping on the +Add field greys it, but the iPad keyboard does not appear and I cannot type anything.

Hi John, have you tried to do this on another system?
Tapping the ‘Add’ button should open up a new dialog box with the option to choose an existing entity of type something.

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I tried using a PC and that worked. I also rebooted my iPad and that seems to have fixed the problem.

Good that it is solved!

Keep in mind that you are accessing a server over a webinterface and things might not be presented the right way so refreshing/rebooting can solve this.

Also: please take the time to mark the post that holds the solution.
You do that by selecting the three dots under the post:

Then select the check box:

By doing so:

  • this thread can be useful to other users as well (this thread comes up as solution when starting a thread which is similar to yours).
  • this prevents that someone else steps in trying to help

Thanks for giving back to the community! :+1:

Nick,

Thanks for getting back to me. You are exactly right. I rebooted my iPad and reloaded Home Assistant and it worked like a charm. Appreciate your help.

@Jlvowell
Sorry, you missed the point, you should have marked a post with a solution as “solution”.

sorry. I am a newbie and have absolutely no idea how to mark it as “Solution.”

I see, no offence at all!
You need to select a post which :
– either helped you the most to fix your main issue,
– or contains a ready solution.
Of course, a “solution post” can be:
– either of yours (if you sorted things out by yourself, or if your own post contains a description of actions which solved the issue),
– or of someone else.
This is not about “Joe is a solution provider” - this is about “here is a problem - and THIS post is a solution”. It is only about giving people a lead in case they faced something similar; about giving people a recognisable mark that this particular thread in a list is “solved”.
So, if you think that a particular post can be marked as a “solution” - please press a “checkbox” button under this post.

John, it’s in my post how to do it.
