Hey,
I’ve recently tried using the HA companion app on my Samsung Galaxy S6 again to make it an always-powered notifications device.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t connect to HA from the device’s companion app though. When I tried to, I just got the error “unable to connect to Home Assistant. The Home Assistant certificate authority is not trusted, please review the Home Assistant certificate or the connection settings and try again.”
What I tried to solve this issue:
- deleting all of the companion app’s data from my phone settings and
- deleting the previous entry of my S6’s companion app from HA’s integration page and then restarting HA
- trying to connect with HA’s internal as well as with its external URL
Unfortunately, none of this worked.
Additional troubleshooting information:
- The issue did not occur when I connected to HA via my S6’s Chrome browser. Neither did it occur on any other of my devices’ browsers or companion apps.
- Judging by the fact that before resetting the companion app on my S6 the URL used for connecting was the internal one despite me using the external one on all other devices, I believe that the issue occurred as a result of me having set up the external duckdns URL through port forwarding in my router settings for connecting to HA.
What now?
