Cannot get an IP on VMM Synology

Hello Community,

I would like to switch from a Docker Installation on my Synology to a full installation in a Virtual Machine.

Problem: it does not get an IP.

I tried so much but still no IP.

  • Tried .qcow2, vmdk from home-assistant and from github
  • tried creating a Linux VM
  • Tried e1000, virtio and rtl8139 network model

It all looks fine. Home Assistant is running. Network says connected. I do not know where to look anymore

I have to “Force shutdown” it since normal shutdown will have no effect (I assume it is because it is waiting for an IP)

If I connect to it, it says “Booting from Hard Dik…” and I think here might be the problem. So I downloaded again the qcow2 (this time from github, think the first time it came from home-assistant). Added the image and used it in creating the VM. Still no IP…

Create a VM directly from a downloaded .ova file. Still no change.

Any idea what I am doing wrong. Ask me any question. I feel I tried it all.

To start Firmware needs to be UEFI and boot should be from Virtual Disk for an ova install.

This was the needed hint. Never clicked that option cause I did not expect it there. Thankyou

Awesome!!!
