Cannot get IKEA Matter devices to work with SLZB-06U

I am running an SLZB-06U (Thread to remote OTBR mode) in POE ethernet mode and HA on a virtual machine. I had the OTBR addon running with a few IKEA TIMMERFLOTTE temp sensors and KLIPPBOK water sensors. I went and bought 3 of IKEA's MYGGBETT door sensors, and I cannot for the life of me get them to connect.

Basically when pairing the MYGGBETTs fail at the thread network connection stage "Can't connect to thread network, Check that your device can work with this network type and try again".

Things I have tried: Sync Thread Credentials in the app, clearing data/cache of google play services, uninstalling matter server, OTBR, and thread in HA and reinstalling, factory resetting the IKEA devices. I have tried multiple android devices with the same result.

No matter what, the ikea TIMMERFLOTTEs connect without issue, but the MYGGBETTs fail in the same way mentioned above.

I have also tried the SLZB-06's experimental mode "Thread+OTBR running on device" that runs OTBR on the SLZB6 itself. Same thing, air sensors work fine, door sensors fail. All three door sensors fail. I just purchased an IKEA MYGGSPRAY motion sensor to troubleshoot and it fails just like the door sensors.

Has anyone run into this? I not sure what this could possibly be where the first devices I paired continue to work but any of these new IKEA devices will not connect. I have been trying to fix this on and off for months and at the point where I might just return them and stick with Zigbee.

I do not know what your Matter/Thread issue is, but I have read in several places that the new Matter/Thread devices from IKEA have a Zigbee firmware too, which you can use to convert them.

I heard that too, I tried to connect the MYGGSPRAY to zigbee, and strangely I was able to pair it directly with a nearby zigbee IKEA LED driver, but I couldn't figure out how to pair it with homeassistant, it never showed up. Then you have contradictory information out there like this post saying that the MYGGSPRAYs don't have zigbee functionality, so idk what is going on.

Update: I got my hands on a common brand hub (aqara) to get to the bottom of this, and sure enough with the second hub attached, they connect. Their firmware is indeed out of date, 1.09. The newest is 1.1.4, so I am updating to see if that allows it to pair to just the SLZB-06. If not, there is some strange incompatibility between the SLZB-06U (I am on firmware v3.3.1, but this issue has been present for 5 months) and these specific IKEA sensors with their factory firmware versions.

Even with the firmware of the MYGGBETTs updated to 1.1.4, same result, fails to connect in the same exact way. Only thing that works is not using the SLZB-06. I am throwing in the towel, the SLZB-06 is just not ready as a TBR I guess.

Maybe you inadvertently made it switch to Zigbee, when you tried to put it into pairing mode.

I have been doing battle for months with the SLZB-06U trying to pair IKEA Matter over Thread devices. I have given up at this point - have 60+ Zigbee devices and they work very well on a older SLZB-06 as the Zigbee Coordinator

Initially thought it was a dodgy switch (BILRESA) so I got a door switch (MYGGBETT) and a temperature sensor (TIMMERFLOTTE) but all failed at the same point in pairing process.

Same symptoms, unable to connect to the network, spent hours looking into logs, my setup is based on HA and Matter Server hosted in Docker with the OTBR on the SLZB-06-U. Double checked IPv6 settings, verified companion app and Thread credentials, looked in multicast settings on the Wireless network.

I'm out of ideas and the logging produced is not leading the investigation into any direction.
Calling it a day on the Matter over Thread for now,

Glad to see I'm not the only one, I have the exact same setup, og SLZB-06 running a bunch of Zigbee devices flawlessly, wanted to get on the matter train so I got an SLZB-06U to try the other firmware. The only difference is I can pair the KLIPPBOK and TIMMERFLOTTE without issue, but the other ikea sensors I have tried will work under no circumstance. Definitely not worth the hassle.

Final update: I bought a brand new SLZB-06U, worked without any issues. So if you are running into this, your unit is likely defective or stuck in some failed configuration. My SLZB-06U must have been defective because I could not factory reset it despite following instructions online. I would try a factory reset first before replacing it though.
