Cannot get Nest Thermostat v3 to work with HA

Despite doing my best, after 6 months of trying I still cannot get my Nest learning Thermostat v3 to work with HA. I followed all instructions I could find and none worked. I did set up a Google pubsub thing as per instructions but still got nowhere.
I am not a coding expert so I just need directions to follow.
I am not looking to enroll in any extra paid google services as I am trying to make my home non-cloud dependent.
After much gnashing of teeth it seems like my nest thermostat is never going to display on my HA dashboard. Not even general temperature. I thought I’d be able to display when my furnace runs or not, the temp charted over 24 hrs, all that sort of thing.
Result so far, NOT.
Several hundred dollar “smart” thermostat that won’t display in HA is not what I expect.

Any help appreciated.

Is this the newest Nest thermostat ? If so, you should use Matter to add it to your HA. Yes, it is a pain to integrate the Google Nest Integration to HA, but it works.
You should scrupulously follow the instructions, but note that you must sure to delete the authentication credentials if they were added to HA during a previous attempt:

  • Settings
  • Go to Services and Devices
  • Go to upper right ‘hamburger’
  • in Authentication credentials delete (if present) the relevant credentials

If added through Matter then maybe you do not even need the Google Nest Integration.
