Cannot pair HMSZB-120

I have a new frient temperature/humidity sensor.

When I try to pair it using ZHA, I get “Interview complete”, “Configuring”, and the device type HMSZB-120. But then nothing more happens.

I tried re-pairing (long-pressing the button on the device until it flashes many times), but the process gets stuck at the same stage.

Somewhere I read that it is entering sleep mode, and I therefore tried to repeatedly press the button on the sensor, every second or so, but this did not help.

Any idea how I could fix this?

After ages, it now showed up in the list of devices.

It also reports temperature and humidity.

However:

  • There is a “switch” entity
  • There is a battery entity (which seems fine), but it does not report anything

My impression is that somehow the configuration did not go as it should have.

Finally, pressing the button on the device to keep it awake during configuration seems not to work. Must it be pressed for a long or for a short time? How often?

zha paring can speed up if you pair it very close to a repeater near the place you want to position your new device. The closer you get it, the faster interview is done and no need to wait 2 hours

I have it really close (ca 0.5m) to the ConBee stick, so that should not be the problem. I tried re-pairing, and the problem remains the same.

You could try even closer with battery devices. Few cm has proven me to be useful pairing those devices
