Can't access Samba share on HAOS from Windows 11

I’ve install HAOS on my Proxmox host, and have installed the Samba add-on. I specified a username and password then started the service. The host name was displayed as “core-samba”. When I try to connect to the share from a Windows 11 desktop on the same LAN I get “network path not found”. The paths I have tried are:

\\192.168.1.122\
\\192.168.1.122\config
\\core-samba
\\core-samba\config

I’ve tried removing and re-installing the add-on but still can’t access the share.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

No issues here using W11 on \192.168.1254)
Did you add your local IP range in the addon config ?

allow_hosts:
  - 192.168.1.0/24

Yes I added an entry for allowed local connections - 192.168.1.0/24

Did you tried to ping the address 192.168.1.122 from W11 ?
If it works, check Network Discovery and File Sharing Settings in W11:
Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change advanced sharing settings.
Ensure that Network discovery and File and printer sharing are turned on.

Yes I can ping the IP address, and Network discovery and File and printer sharing are turned on.
I’ve also tried connecting to the share from an Ubuntu VM on the same Proxmox, and that can’t connect either (using IP address or hostname - smb://core-samba/)

So it turns out that I can access the share if I use a host name of “homeassistant”
(i.e. \homeassistant)

It would have been really helpful if the Samba add-in didn’t advertise the host name as “core-samba” :grimacing:
