All of the sudden, I cannot reach my google nest thermostats anymore via HA>
I ended up going back to a back-up of two days ago, HA ask to re-identify myself on the google API (the 5 USD one) So I did, it said thank you, but still refuses to link to the previously set thermostats.
I deleted the entities and started over with all existing credentials, I tried about 5 times without any result.
I keep up ending with authenticating via the external google links, it accepts, I need to link back to my HA installation URL, after that HA keeps returning with an error that i need to enter the correct prject ID
I’ve given up on Nest and swapped in Ecobees using HomeKit. I’ve had too many problems with stale data. Temperatures not updating for hours, etc. And having an internet outage (which while not frequent does happen) causes loss of HA control. Ecobee has none of these problems. Connecting to HA was a breeze.
The newer Nests support Matter which should allow for a direct connection and avoids all the complexity. You could try that if yours support it.
I did, and even added new credentials in HA first. (New OAuth user)
For whatever reason I keep returning to the “first” screen to enter the proper cloud project id.
Which I did in the first place, why would it continue with the setup otherwise.
