Newbie here, started using HA a few weeks ago and it has been a steep learning curve thanks to the people on here, been doing a lot of reading and testing things out
I bought a Reolink doorbell which i want to add to HA, the device is discovered but i can’t get past the initial login.
I gave my device a name, password. Tried the standard Reolink, reset everything etc etc. But i still can’t get past the login, it keeps failing. And telling me to check my IP adress which i have done multiple times now, still won’t work.
Any advise would be welcome, i have read the integration documentation but to no avail.
Can you log in to the reolink app with the name and password you currently use ?
If I take a quick look, I see that I am logging in with my email address and password.
Try logging in with your email address and password
i am logged in to the app, checked the IP adress, device name, password etc.
Also logging in to the Windows app with no issues, just cant get it into HA
I get the following error message.
:443 cannot connect to host
Checked the IP adress in my router and in the doorbell settings and it’s correct.
From my experience, battery powered Reolink cams are difficult to access/connect outside of their own interface. You have to ensure you are only trying to access the livestream.
I see that you use Battery powered version. Then you need a Hub.
The POE and WIFI version without battery does not need the hub to connect to HA.
Maybe you can bring it back to the store and get a POE and WIFI version without battery.
If it only concerns the doorbell, it is cheaper to convert it to a Poe or WiFi without a battery.
But of course that depends entirely on the situation as to whether you can use a Poe or WiFi without a battery.
If you want to purchase more Reolink stuff now or in the future, then just as LiQuid_cOOled rightly points out, it is cheaper to purchase a hub.
I too have found POE a pain. I made the same mistake with the battery powered cams. The Home Hub helped consolidate my Reolink Powered and Battery cams
Tested battery-powered models
Battery-powered Reolink cameras can be used with Home Assistant with the help of a Reolink Home Hub or NVR. The Home Hub/NVR will act as a bridge between the battery-powered cameras and Home Assistant, conserving the battery life. All features of the battery-powered cameras will be available just like regular-powered cameras. Viewing the camera stream in Home Assistant will keep the battery camera awake during viewing, consuming battery life. Therefore, ensure you do not use the camera stream on a dashboard that is constantly being viewed, like a wall panel dashboard. You can check proper operation by ensuring that the “Sleep status” entity will go to “Sleeping” if the battery camera is not being actively used.
I hardwired the bell, butchered my door frame, still won’t connect to HA, so ordered a Hub, fingers crossed it will solve the issue before i buy more reolink stuff.
The wired/battery version, D340B.
Ordered the 8 devices HUB as i will never have more than 4/5 around my modest house. See if that works, if not i will seek more help on here.
Still a HA newbie, learning every day.
Reolink hub arrived today thx to Amazon speedy delivery. Installed and had it running in 5 min.
Already set up some automations for notifiactions and pop uson my wall tablet using browser mod.
