Me too. Same problem.
The misleading part is when going through the flow it seems it’ll connect just fine on HA but no.
You need a Reolink Home Hub to incorporate Reolink battery powered cameras in HA.
You dont really need a chime or hub, that thing can call you. But to integrate in HA you need the Hub which sucks. Ordered a non-battery version instead.
What do you mean with it can call you? Are you taking about the notification you get when someone rings the bell?
When the phone is on silent, that is easily missed, even when the alarm ringtone is set to urgent.
I wish there could be an option like on other doorbells where it would appear as an incoming phone call, even when the app isn’t open in the foreground.
That is exactly what I meant. There is an option in the camera settings that makes the bell a usual standard (video) call. Literally as if someone calls you. At least in the iPhone app, didn’t check out on Android yet.
This is so convenient, why should I move that into Home Assistant? (While I also like the idea to have everything in one place and constantly try to get full functionality for everything in HA, too but sometimes I just admit that it is not the time for that yet and choose the easier way
)
That explains it. That feature only works on iPhones. With Android you need to open the app first before that feature works.
will check on my wifes phone later.
I have an Android and it does work. There’s a simple and rather annoying little step to take though, which is to hit ‘view’ when the notification pops up to say you have a visitor. That then triggers the call to come through. You can also extend the delay time on the notification, so you have longer to respond.
Very annoying as I’d rather get the call directly, rather than have to click a notification to get it. Hope that makes some sense
Sorry also very confused. Assuming Reolink give away a LOT of free devices to reviewers hence such significantly positively “works with HA” reviews!!!
I sent back the basic indoor camera, £25 on BF deal - only to find out it has nor RTSP or Onvif, which a no brand £15 version does have and works well. Was looking to remove all Chinese cams to replace for Reolink but experience so far is very poor.
Now got the Wireless Doorbell and although HA finds it I cant add it. Anyone know if it does actually work natively? Thanks
