Can't bring up Bluetooth

OS Version: Home Assistant OS 16.2
Home Assistant Core: 2025.10.1

I want to add a Bluetooth sensor but I can’t figure out where to start. I’ve searched online and gotten lots of information that has just made me more confused. I don’t have the bluetooth tools installed , I don’t have apt tools and I’ve added ‘bluetooth:’ to the config and restarted. If I try to add the bluetooth integration it fails as it can’t find a configured device. My dmesg -r returns this for bluetooth:

~ # dmesg -r | grep -i blue
<6>[ 267.887577] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.22
<6>[ 267.887607] NET: Registered PF_BLUETOOTH protocol family
<6>[ 267.887609] Bluetooth: HCI device and connection manager initialized
<6>[ 267.887613] Bluetooth: HCI socket layer initialized
<6>[ 267.887615] Bluetooth: L2CAP socket layer initialized
<6>[ 267.887618] Bluetooth: SCO socket layer initialized
<6>[346624.425768] Bluetooth: BNEP (Ethernet Emulation) ver 1.3
<6>[346624.425773] Bluetooth: BNEP filters: protocol multicast
<6>[346624.425776] Bluetooth: BNEP socket layer initialized

My other HP Elitebook computers have Bluetooth so i think this one also has it but I’m not seeing an hci0 device. I suspect I am missing something obvious (missing the bluetooth hardware in the PC?)

PS: No dbus either.

Any pointers?

Does the Bluetooth sensor have a HA integration? If it doesn’t, no sense in searching further.
Not all Bluetooth adapters are supported in HA OS
A Bluetooth proxy is a cheap work-around.

I think so, it’s the Omiron Gold (BP monitor).

I am looking into the proxy. I have a ton of ESP32s and Pico ws.

Make sure before you waste any more time, because as @francisp said, if there isn’t one (either a custom or core integration) then there’s no point in going further.

My 5 seconds of googling didn’t immediately come up with anything.

Too late, I already have the device. I did find something but can’t find it now (grr, bad sign)
